January 4, 2008 Dear Participants of the 2008 Metropolis of Denver Greetings in the Lord! As we gather for the annual Metropolis of Denver GOYA Basketball Tournament, I welcome you with great joy. I am grateful to the Lord to be able to greet you and to take part in the largest gathering of any kind in our holy Metropolis. The enthusiasm that each of you brings to this event is equaled by the host committee of the Annunciation Cathedral in Houston. They have worked tirelessly to prepare for all of us a most edifying and enjoyable program. With your respectful participation, this Tournament will continue to be a most-exciting athletic and cultural event in our Metropolis. Our Lord tells us, “For where two or three are gathered in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). At this basketball tournament we gather in great numbers and are joined by Christ as we create and re-new lasting bonds of friendship. This is a cause of celebration to all the faithful who see the strengthening of the Church, the Body of Christ, through our young people. I encourage you to do your very best, on and off of the court, throughout this entire weekend. More importantly, I challenge each of you to take the excitement and joy experienced here to your homes knowing that your experience will have been in the spirit of Christ. 2008 Annual Metropolis Basketball Tournament |

October 1, 2007 To: All Parish Clergy, GOYAns, Coaches, Advisors and their Family and Friends!! From: 2008 Metropolis of Denver GOYA Basketball Tournament Committee The 2008 Metropolis of Denver GOYA Basketball tournament will be held January 18-21, 2008, in Houston, Texas. Attached are the registration forms and information sheets:
Early Registrations are $125 and must be postmarked on or before October 31, 2007. Regular Registrations are $150 and are to be postmarked November 1-15, 2007. Late Registrations are $175 and are postmarked from November 16 to December 1, 2007. To be considered for each registration period, registrations (forms and payment) must be postmarked according to the above guidelines. This policy will be strictly enforced. As well, it is asked that you not use “ground” services as delivery can be greatly delayed. Registration includes a goodie bag upon arrival for the kids, Friday night dinner, hospitality room snacks and social, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner and fun evening activity, Sunday brunch and banquet. Parents and family members that plan to attend the tournament are encouraged to also register. The 2008 Non-Player (Family) Registration Form and Conduct Code form is designed to allow family and friends to register for all meals and activities or for the just the Sunday brunch or banquet. To register players/coaches/advisors must complete three (3) forms: 1. 2008 Player/Coach Registration Form, Conduct Code and Participant Covenant; 2. Medical Information and Release Form (parent to sign and attach copy of insurance card), and; 3. Confidential Health History (parent to sign). Family and friends may register by completing only one (1) form; the 2008 Non-Player (Family) Registration Form and Conduct Code. The completed registration forms, and payment, should be mailed to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Attention: GOYA Basketball Tournament, 3511 Yoakum Blvd., Houston, TX 77006. We are working on providing bus transportation to and from the airports and activities for a reasonable fee. That information will be provided in the next couple weeks.
