Seminarians of the Metropolis of Denver

There are ten men from the Metropolis of Denver currently studying at Holy Cross School of Theology (click on thumbnails for larger image):

Mr. Evan Constantinides is from Dallas, Texas and is a member of Holy Trinity parish. He is a graduate of Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois with a BA in Communication. Before entering Holy Cross, Mr. Constantinides worked for various companies, doing everything from retail to transportation dispatch. He has always been active in parish life, including GOYA, Altar Boys, and being a founder and director of the Parathosi (Greek) Dance Troupe in Bethesda, Maryland. His anticipated graduation date from Holy Cross School of Theology is May 2010.

Mr. James Foreso was born in Fairfax, Virginia and graduated from Chantilly High School in 1989. He attended NOVA for two years before transferring to George Mason University. He worked his way through college at his family's construction company during the summers and for the athletic department at GMU. While attending GMU James became a member of the Tau Kappa Epslion Fraternity and played football. He graduated in 1996 with a B.S. in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies in 1996. In that same year he married his wife Eleni. They moved to Denver, Co in 1998. They have three children; Karas 9, Kayla 6, and James Thomas 3. In the last ten years James had worked for Environmental Designs Landscape Company. The family is a steward at Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village, Co, where James was a member of Parish Council. This is his first year at Holy Cross and hope to complete his studies in 2012.

Mr. Christopher Gilbert is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. His parents are Father Matthew and Presbytera Denise, and he is the eldest of six children. Christopher is a graduate of Hellenic College with a BA in Religious Studies. He is currently working towards his Masters of Divinity. Since his youth, he has always been active in parish life, whether it be at the chanter stand, choir, altar, or in GOYA. He has spent his last four summers as a counselor at Camp Emmanuel for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Denver and at Saint Nicholas Ranch for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco. His anticipated graduation date from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is May 2010. (The photo is of Christopher and his sister who is a student at Hellenic College).

Mr. Haby Hayden was born in Fort Davis, TX, and came to Holy Cross following a twenty five year career as an engineer in the nuclear power plant industry. He served in the U. S. Navy as an officer on board a nuclear submarine, served in the reserves as an Engineering Duty Officer and retired as a Captain. He has a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University, a MBA degree from the University of Dallas and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. Hayden and his wife Kandice have a son, Griffin, their daughter, Venetia, is deceased. Hayden has been active at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Worth, Texas as a steward as well as serving on the parish council. He is also active in grief support and prison ministry. His anticipated graduation date from Holy Cross School of Theology is May 2011.

Mr. John Kavas is from Denver, Colorado, and is a member of Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He and his wife Julie have four children and they have all moved to Westwood, Massachusetts so John could attend Holy Cross. John is General Counsel for Merlin International, Inc., a Denver based information technology solutions provider, and is a graduate of the University of Denver College of Law and Colorado State University.

Mr. Dimitrios Kyritsis Jim is from Laramie, Wyoming and is a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was a member of the Laramie Police Department for over 29 years, and was appointed three different times to be the Interim Chief of Police. Jim also devoted time to public service, holding elective office as a member of the Albany County School Board for 21 years. He was appointed by two successive Governors to serve on the Wyoming State Youth Council and the Governor's Substance Abuse and Violent Crime Advisory Board. He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming. Jim has been certified in the IOCC Emergency Response Network "Frontline" which provides emotional and spiritual care in times of disaster, pastoral crisis intervention, and critical incident stress management. He recently served in Galveston, Texas as part of the IOCC Hurricane Ike relief efforts. Jim and his wife Kathy have two children, Anna and Niko. His anticipated graduation date is May of 2011.

Mr. Philemon Patitsas was born in Kent, Ohio, and came to Holy Cross following a twenty-five year professional career as a global marketing executive in the petroleum, chemical, and high tech industries. He has a BS degree from Marietta College and an MBA degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Philemon and his wife Maria have three children, Nicholas, Eleni, and Markella, and are members of Holy Trinity parish in Dallas Texas. He and Maria recently traveled to Tanzania where they served on a seventeen-day OCMC teaching team. He has posted both his biography and a report on their trip to Tanzania.

Mr. Andonios Prayannis

Mr. Robert Spaliatsos was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and made the journey to Holy Cross after working in Higher Education/Student Services for the last ten years. Most recently, he worked at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in the Office of Housing and Residence Life. He and his family are members of Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He has a B.S. degree in Medical Entomology from the University of Florida , a M.Ed. degree from the University of Florida, and a M.S. in Community Health-Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Rob and his wife, Sophia, have one daughter, Eleni.

Mr. John Uhl is from Denver, Colorado and is a member of Saint Nicholas parish in Grand Junction, Colorado. His parents are Father Luke and Presbytera Ruth, and he is the third of four sons. John is a graduate of Mesa State College in Grand Junction, with a BA in History. He spent one year at the University of the Aegean on Rhodes, Greece. He has been active in the Church throughout his life, as an Acolyte, in GOYA, and in the Denver Cathedral Boy Scout Troop and the Greek Dance Group. He has also served as a counselor at Ionian Village. John is an Eagle Scout and is honorably discharged from the United States Navy. His anticipated graduation date from Holy Cross School of Theology is May 2011.
