As we discussed at our Diocesan Clergy Syndesmos meeting in Omaha, many of you are members of various commissions, boards, and other organizations of the Church. Your participation in these efforts provides the Diocese and the diocesan clergy with a very good opportunity to express their concerns and consensus as well as to be informed of matters that concern them.
Thus, since each of you as a priest is an extension of the hierarchical office of the Diocese, I ask that you regularly contact me to discuss the matters that will be on the agenda at these gatherings. There may be issues which I will ask you to address, or there may be matters conveyed through me from your brother priests that will be germane to your deliberations. Please inform me in advance of your meetings, so that I will not only be aware of your absence from the parish but also that I may be informed of activities and discussions which affect our holy Archdiocese and this God-protected Diocese of Denver.
Finally, when you return from these meetings and other gatherings, I ask that you provide me with a written report summarizing the discussions and any decisions taken or actions recommended. Where appropriate, such reports can be copied and distributed to the diocesan clergy for their edification.
